About Us

Our mission is to provide academic, post- secondary and personal/social counseling that will help you successfully transition through high school into adult life. Our role as counselors is to provide counseling services that holistically address your individual needs to the best of our abilities.

2024-25 School year course registration information

Course Request Change Procedure for semester 2

Prior to the end of the first semester it will be important that you go to Infinite Campus/Portal to take a close look at the courses you are enrolled in for semester 2. If you notice any issues that require a change in your semester 2 schedule you will need to fill out the Course Request Change for 2024-25 School Year at your earliest convenience, but no later than the deadline of Wednesday, Jan. 24, 3:30 p.m. After this time the form will be inaccessible and schedule changes will not be accepted. This is the only process for requesting a course change. The following are a few items to be made aware of:

The Course Request Change Form must be completed using your DPHS student email account, so please ensure you are logged in as such.
If your course request changes exceed the form limit of 1 you will need to fill out an additional form(s).
When selecting courses to add please ensure that you have met any and all prerequisites and understand what the course entails as outlined by the course description found in the DPHS Course Planning Guide.

The counseling department will routinely meet to evaluate the requests up until the deadline which is February 3rd at 3pm. Once a determination has been made you will be sent an email with the final decision. Decisions may take days to finalize - your patience with this is appreciated.

Career Exploration and Opportunities

Career exploration should start by asking yourself three questions:

Who am I?
What am I good at?
How do I get where I want to go?

The best ways to find the answers to these questions is by:

Taking a variety of classes across the curriculum
Volunteering
Participating in extracurricular activities (in and outside of school)
Job shadowing
Having a job/employment
Being open to possibilities/experiences

Xello is career software program available to DPHS students. The site provides up-to-date career information, interest inventories, college searches, the opportunity to create a career portfolio, etc. This site can be accessed on the High School homepage under the Student tab. College Athletics

Any student who is considering playing a NCCA sport at either Division I or II must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Talk with your counselor and coach for more specific information. Additianal resources include:

Scholarships

Scholarships can be found by logging into your Xello account and clicking on the College Planning tab. Scholarships get posted as they come in, so keep checking periodically. You also may find scholarships through civic and religious groups, fraternal organizations, or you and/or your parent(s) place of employment.

Institutional scholarships at the colleges you are considering may also be a source.

FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a federally run program that assists students in paying for their post-secondary education and provides opportunity and access to higher education.

Why fill out the FAFSA? Scholarship applications may require
FAFSA used for more than just federal aid –also state and institutional funding
Won’t know what eligible for until submitted –gives you a baseline to plan for future years
Insurance policy if you need financial aid in future years –must reapply each year.

Summer academic camps are a great way to learn more about your career options. Here is a partial list of area summer camp offerings:

Transcript Requests

Transcript requests are fulfilled through the Parchment Exchange system. If you are a current or former student who has used Parchment previously, click on the Existing User Account icon to sign in. If you are a current or former student and have never used Parchment before, click on the New Learner Account icon to set up an account. There is a $4.15 fee per transcript request. All transcripts are sent electronically.
